18 Things I Learned In 18 Months

I started this when I first came out so I thought I might as well share it! 😊

1) I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father. Seriously He is SO good to me! I am not only spoiled by my earthly father, but my heavenly one also! He has blessed me in so many ways during my mission.

2) Kelly Clarkson knew what she was talking about when she said, " what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." But trials help us grow and become way better than what we were before.

3) You WILL get hard companions. Lol @ me because I thought I never would and then BAM!  But you will also get companions that become your best friends. No matter who you get, it is for a reason!

4) Role plays are the worst, but they are also the best.

5) All the people you expected to keep up with you your whole mission, won't. Some won't even remember your birthday! And I'll be honest, it was really hard for me to not hear from the people I expected to hear from. But I got over it, plus it is all part of the sacrifice! I will however give a shout out to my main gals, my mom and sister, they never once missed a week of emailing me (':  #truelove #squadgoals #waitisthatevenstillathing

6) Time goes by so incredibly fast, but oh so slow. There were moments when all I could think was " When is this going to end?!" But then I blinked and it was my halfway mark and all I could say was " Please don't make this end!"

7) This gospel brings pure joy. There is nothing better than hearing that you have that "mission glow" Also spolier alert : missionaries are happy because they are always thinking of others, not themselves. So give it a try!

8)The Lord really does hear and answer prayers!! Remember that one time I prayed for Sister Hill to be in my zone but then something better happened?! She became my companion! Or that one time I lost my ring from my grandma and after 2 days of prayer it showed up? Like if that isn't a testimony builder, I don't know what is.

9) I came out for all the wrong reasons, but stayed for the right ones.

10) The Lord sometimes calls you to places you DO NOT want to go. But then you realize there is
no place you would rather be! It really is all about the attitude! #Stuart #Wilkesboro #BOONIEDOUTTTT😉

11) There comes  a point when you don't recognize anythinggggg on the radio( when you hear it in public) , and you're perfectly fine with it. Being away from the worldly things was SO NICE! I wish I could stay in my little missionary bubble forever.

12) If you're reading this, GOD LOVES YOU! He even loves the people who aren't reading this. No matter who you are, or where you have been, or what you have done. He. Loves. You.

13) It's all true. Without a shadow of doubt in my mind. I know this is the restored church of Jesus Christ. I would not have left my home for this year and a half if it wasn't. This has been the best testimony builder of my LIFE. How greatful  I am to know the truth and to have had the chance to share it.

14) " I'm Busy" is theeeeee DUMBEST excuse. Seriously. If you dont want to talk to someone or go to something, or do something just say it! It saves a lot of wasted time.

15) There is a big difference in "serving a mission" and "going on a mission"

16) How to love strangers. Seriously this is THE BEST! Where ever you serve you learn to just love the people. Some areas were harder than others at first but I have loved the people of the south.

17) Missionary work without members is impossible. So help your local missionaries!!

18) There is no such thing as a perfect family. So I count my blessings that I have one crazy circus of a family!

❤The Hardest Thing I've Ever Loved To Do 😭

This was the craziest week ever. Seriously. But for one last time, let me give you the highlights

Tuesday: We had MLC! I love MLC! It was all focused on the technology training that was coming up! After MLC I had my exit interview with President Alexander. I cried a few times, but didnt sob!! *pats myself on back* It was a good time to reflect on my mission and gain more counsel for a very wise, inspired man. I will be forever grateful for President and Sister Alexander, they helped me SO much through many different trials. On the way home it was raining cats and dogs, so we got off the road and us and the Greensboro sisters ate at BJ's! Oh man it was good, plus it was $3 pazookie night #tendermercy 🙌

Wednesday: So for the past 2 days we had done like zero proselytizing because we were so busy. So when we finally got to, I was pumped! The only man who answered and talked to us ended up going on this rant about the Book of Mormon. I was like 10000% done. I kindly  asked if he had even read  it, of course he said no. Oh some people! 🙃🙃

Thursday: We exchanged with Bethania! I got to bring Sister Payne back to Tanglewood with me! We got to do service, eat with the best members ever, and teach a wonderful family! And to top it off the Zone Leaders called us at 9pm to go to walmart to buy stuff to make for the next days zone meeting. *sighs* elders. 🙃

Friday: We had a Zone meeting where we did the technology training we went over in MLC! So get this the NCCM is one of 12 missions out of like 400 missions in the world, that gets to test out this new great way of missionary work that comes along with new technology. But thats all we have been told. So to prepare we went through this training and at the end we had " the great reset" aka your zone couldnt use facebook until they all completed some online courses. I am thankful for all the technology training I have had on my mission. I know that is one of the reasons I was called to this mission #recoveringiphoneaddict
We also had the ward party friday! It was a good time! I even got to play corn hole (or as my family calls it, Baggo!)

Saturday: Well it started out with the Sisters Only Conference Call, where the departing sisters share their testimonies. I will have you know It still hasnt fully hit me, but when I shared my testimony I boo hoo'd. That afternoon we got to go on a roadtrip to a baptism of someone Sister Fontano taught! So I can say I saw a baptism my last week! 😉

Sunday: My last Sunday in the BEST ward ever. And I got to give a talk! I cried of course. Tanglewood has my heart! Oh I love these people SO much!! Fun fact, when I got transferred here, I was kinda upset because I didnt get to change zones. But this has been such an amazing place to be. I am so thankful this is where I got to end! We got to eat with one of my favorite families last night. and then we taught a family from Egypt!

Spiritual Thought:
"He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it" Matthew 10:39

Oh my gosh y'all. I cant even put into words what these last 18 months have meant to me. I have felt every emotion possible. I have sunk into deep despair, I have felt exceeding joy. I have changed. I have found new life, new chances, new beginnings because of my time here in the NCCM. I have found my testimony. My very own one, not my moms, not my dads, not even my siblings. My very own. The sacrifice I made is no where near the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made. I know that my Redeemer lives. He isn't just a fictitious man from a book. He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He has felt every time someone shut a door on me, everytime someome told me what I believed was wrong, everytime I thought I couldnt last one more day. He felt it all. He knows me better than anyone else, because he atoned for me, and you, and everyone past, present, and future. I can never repay him. I will forever cherish my time in the South. I will always cherish the people I met, the people I taught, the companions I had, and all the sacred experiences that are dear to my heart.

I am so thankful for each and everyone of you that supported me. Through prayers, fasting, emails, packages, letters, and just plain old love! Thank you SO much. You will never know how big of a difference you made to me!

I sure love you all, see you soon❤

#75 And Then I Blinked 9/4/17

Wow. What a week. Somehow I blinked and I hit my 17th month mark, and for some reason everyone keeps telling me "your days are coming to an end" Not cool. 🙃

So this week was great as always! Minus it being 60 degrees a few days in a row. Like seriously I was in a flannel and boots! North Carolina weather is so crazy haha😂

Well Tuesday we were doing service at the Food Pantry and there you walk people through the food line individually. I walked with a deaf man this week. He was so cute, hahaha! It was hard for me at first because I don't know how to sign anything. But I tried to place myself in the footsteps of the Savior. I felt such love for this man I didnt even know! It was truly a Mosiah 2:17 moment! 💙

While I was gone on exchanges last week we had a woman who is not active in the church call us and ask if we could start reading the Book of Mormon with her two daughters! Of course we said yes! So this week we drove wayyyyy out to the edge of our area to meet with them! It was great! I am excited to keep going back! 😊

Sad news. I went to my LAST zone conference this week. Oh but it was so good! Okay but first side story : We have this boy in our ward going on his mission next month. Anywho he took us and the Elders and stayed at the conference. We had to travel pretty early so he got us breakfast... at bojangles... aka taco bell of the south.... aka cheap greasy southern food. I WAS SO SICK I COULD HAVE DIED RIGHT THERE! Okay thats like a little dramatic but seriously I felt like death. I have only had bojangles one other time, at the start of my mission, and both times ended in feeling sick. So word to the wise, dont eat bonjangles 😘

Anyway bringing it back.... So zone conference was all about The Book of Mormon. The Alexanders this transfer had a vision of every missionary gaining a stronger testimony of the Book of Mormon. We had great trainings, did some good roleplays, and ate some yummy food! Oh and in our mission we are asked to learn 2 scriptures for each of the 42 principles we teach... we have to memorize them and pass them off... then we get this really fancy mission coin! So after many stressful study sessions I am overjoyed to say I GOT MY COIN! Wahoooooo! Also every zone conference the departing missionaries bare their testimonies. Yall I kept it together!!! 🙌 I teared up obviously but I wasn't sobbing. Honestly my brain hasnt connected the fact that I am actually going home. So I still feel like I will be a missionary forever haha I am simply going through the motions of going home. So heaven help the poor soul who is with me when it finally hits me. 😂😭

We had exchanges right after zone conference! I brought Sis Atkisson to Tanglewood! The 2nd door we knocked on was soooo solid. We applied exactly what we learned in zone conference and got a new investigator! Her name is Lisa and she asked if she could keep the Book of Mormon so she could study and mark things in it (,: We also made a pit stop to Krispy Kreme because the hot light was on, and missionaries always need a pick me up!

Okay one last story. Hope yall are still with me haha

So Daniel came to church again!! Wahooo! And his nephew came with him! Sunday afternoon we had a family in our ward invite him over for a lesson with us. I guess the Elders had lunch with this family, and since they got a ride, they were still there. So group lesson hahaha! It went SO good!! Like seriously. He opened up and he was thinking real hard. We also taught another lady Sunday afternoon, and that lesson was just as golden! She said she has been looking for the truth her whole life (,: I LOVE MISSIONARY WORK! 😭

Well you can't get rid of me yet,  I will def be writing next week! But for my spiritual thought today I am attaching a voice memo of my testimony!

I am so blessed to have been called to the NCCM! I am so blessed to have the great support that I do! Thank you thank you thank you!! I love youuuuu 💕

PS I finally figured out my homecoming starts at 11am not 9 hahah. So feel free to come see me and get some food after! 😘

#74 August 28, 2017

Do you Honestly Expect Me to Still Have Creative Titles?

So word on the street is that my home girl TSwift is back at it and all I gotta say about that is, I know that it is a direct blessing of enduring to the end of my mission 😉 *throws back fish* (its an nncm thing. Fish = worldly distractions that distract us)

Anyways onto more spiritual things!

I had my last normal interview with the Alexanders this week. Guess who held it together like a champ? If you guessed President Alexander, congrats. Because I didnt 😂😭 I cant tell yall enough what powerful leaders the Alexanders are. They know what to say and always have tissues prepared ❤ I also had my last district meeting. See the theme so far? Yeah its the worst. But I love this district SO much! I am so thankful for all the things I have learned by going to district meetings! Also our district leader promised to write me a eulogy, because I am "dying". My hopes were so high, and it was SO LAME! 😂😂 Its the thought that counts.

I got to be in a trio for exchanges this week in Bethania! 💕 I love trios! We saw some great miracles and had lots of giggles! They have a large Marshallese population and so a big chunk of their teaching pool comes from them. Sister Enos, from the Marshall Islands, was in Tanglewood for the day so we brought another member to translate for us. I legit felt like I was in another mission. I was def not blessed with the gift of tongues, but it was a fun time!

Speaking of foreign lands, I also taught a man from India this week, and a boy from China! We met the Indian man last week and he has read from the Book of Mormon before and has been to temple square and has lots of connections. He is great! We taught him again this weekend and it went well😊 I am excited to see his family progress! A family in our ward got a foreign exchange student from China named Eric! We got to teach him Saturday! It was kinda tricky because 1) language barrier 2) he had no clue who Christ was and that has not been a common theme of my mission. But he came to church! So that's good!

Ready for a funny story? Okay here goes. So sunday we had an investigator,Daniel, come to church with us and this conversation took place after
Sis k: *walks up real close to him* HI!  are you single?
Him: *sounds confused* yes
Her: me too! *high fives him*

We were DYING laughing but also like what the heck Sister you cant just do that to people 😂😂

Spiritual Thought:
"I testify that one cannot come to full faith in this latter-day work—and thereby find the fullest measure of peace and comfort in these, our times—until he or she embraces the divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom it testifies. If anyone is foolish enough or misled enough to reject 531 pages of a heretofore unknown text teeming with literary and Semitic complexity without honestly attempting to account for the origin of those pages—especially without accounting for their powerful witness of Jesus Christ and the profound spiritual impact that witness has had on what is now tens of millions of readers—if that is the case, then such a person, elect or otherwise, has been deceived; and if he or she leaves this Church, it must be done by crawling over or under or around the Book of Mormon to make that exit." - Jeffery R Holland

Well folks that's pretty much all I got this week. Being a missionary is so great! I will never regret this choice I made❤ Also can we all pause together and be disgusted that August is like over and summer just slipped right by?!? On the bright side I survived another hot and humid carolina summer🙌

Hope you have an amazing week! I heard that you will be more blessed if you write a missionary, so feel free to use me for blessings! 😘😂 LOVE YOUUU!

Monday, August 21, 2017

Wow where to even begin this week. Y'all it was crazy.

I guess I can start at the beginning. So Monday as a zone we hiked hanging rock and I wanted to die. Well at least uphill, downhill was fine. I paid for it most of the week though. It was fun to be together as a zone though! In my almost 9 months in this zone,  I have hiked it twice, so I am set for life. ✌

We had Pack Week this week! AKA Zone Week. It was SO great!! we all saw so many miracles and as a zone found 45 New Investigators, which is super great! Sister Fontano and I were blessed to find 10 of those! That is triple our weekly goal. We lead out two of the days, and one we did a training on technology. We made a little dos and donts video.... after we got a call from the assistants. We were kinda nervous at first haha but turns out they liked our video so much and wanted to put it on the MLC group chat!

Okay time for some good stories!

#1 First Miracle
So for the past few months we have gotten ZERO media referrals. none. So this transfer we made it a goal to start praying for them everyday. On Saturday morning, our prayers were answered! Someone ordered a Book of Mormon!! And it gets better. When Sister Soren and I were on exchange a few weeks ago, we met this girl and we gave her our contact info. Turns out she read the whole pamphlet and then went on Mormon.org and requested a Book of Mormon! We met with her and her boyfriend last night! 😊

#2 Big Time Miracle
So part of Pack Week includes daily challenges. Saturday we were challenged to invite 3 people to be baptized. We had 2 lessons that day, we weren't't worried. Well one lesson got rescheduled and the other one, it didn't feel right to invite them. So we were in a pickle. We decided that the next door we knocked, baptism would be our door approach. So we knocked and told this person how we can be baptized by the same authority John the Baptist had and asked her to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by that authority. Y'ALL SHE SAID YES! PLUS she said she had been looking into having her kids get baptized!!!! Seriously, you try to tell me God doesn't't answer prayers. We are SO excited!!😭😊❤

#3 The big uh oh
Okay so a few weeks ago this sweet old lady in our ward gave us a ton of food, she also made a breakfast casserole for us to bake. The casserole wasn't't sealed all the way and some of the raw eggs spilled into the cooler, under a rag that was in there. So 2 weeks ago, we emptied the food and didn't't think to look under the rag. We sat the cooler by the door to give back to her. So fast forward to Saturday night. Sister Fontano noticed that it smelled funny by the door. We opened the cooler and oh my gosh, I have officially smelled death. It wreaked to high heavens AND had maggots ALL over. What do two young adults do after this? They say oh we will deal with it tomorrow. So thats what we did. Sunday before church, we went and dumped everything out in our dumpster and then took it to the church to clean out. It still smelled so awful, but we were soaking it and trying our best. We tried to get the elders to help, but the smell was too much haha. Then Sister Foster walks in. I have literally never felt so bad in my life. She was not a happy camper and said she would just take care of it at home. btw at that point the maggots were gone , we were just washing it to get the smell out. Anyway fast forward to after sacrament. We talked to her and said sorry 1000 times and she is all good now. But we learned our lesson!😂😂

Spiritual Thought: "For one thing, we can, as King Benjamin taught, cease withholding our means because we see the poor as having brought their misery upon themselves. Perhaps some have created their own difficulties, but don't the rest of us do exactly the same thing? Isn't that why this compassionate ruler asks, "Are we not all beggars?" Don't we all cry out for help and hope and answers to prayers? Don't we all beg for forgiveness for mistakes we have made and troubles we have caused? Don't we all implore that grace will compensate for our weaknesses, that mercy will triumph over justice at least in our case? Little wonder that King Benjamin says we obtain a remission of our sins by pleading to God, who compassionately responds, but we retain a remission of our sins by compassionately responding to the poor who plead to us." Jeffery R Holland

FOLLLOWING UP: Okay I invited all of you to pull out the Book of Mormon this week so I of course have to follow up! Let me know how that went and what you read!😘

Okay that was a little long, hopefully the 6 people who still read this , made it this far.😉 I hope you all are surviving the heat of the summer! Count your blessings that it isnt hot AND humid.

LOVE YOUUUUU! 🖤

Monday, August 14, 2017

Hey Y'all!

This week started off the right way with MLC. Oh it's always a good time. ❤ We discussed for the majority of the time, the power of the Book of Mormon and how we can share it in unique ways! Also found this quote from Brigham Young , "No man can say that this book (laying his hand on the Bible) is true, is the word of the Lord, is the way, is the guide-board in the path, and a charter by which we may learn the will of God; and at the same time say, that the Book of Mormon is untrue; if he has had the privilege of reading it, or of hearing it read, and learning its doctrines. There is not that person on the face of the earth who has had the privilege of learning the Gospel of Jesus Christ from these two books, who can say that one is true, and the other is false" So I have challenge for all of you, every single one. Just like I invite those I am teaching I want to invite yall to pick up the Book of Mormon and read from it THIS WEEK! I can promise you that more peace will come into your life and you will feel closer to Jesus Christ! 😊

We had exchanges this week! Sister Soren came here with me! It was pretty great! We found a new investigator together 😊 Also no joke she looks like one of my  roommates from byui  and it really was throwing me off all day hahah

We taught SO many people this week. Sadly, not all of them wanted to set a return appointment BUT still miracles. Last night was a real great one. We were walking in this area and knocked on a door. This man comes out and we started a conversation with him. We asked " If the same church that Jesus Christ established while he was here, was here today, what would that mean to you?" And then he grabbed his wife, and eventually we got inside. We taught the full restoration and after sharing the first vision they told us that they felt the spirit (': So awe invited them to be baptized. And the man looked thrilled. The wife seemed scared to change. She turned it down. But we testified to them to pray and read the Book of Mormon, and to not forget the spirit they felt while meeting with us. Even though it didn't end the way we wished, we gave it our all and helped others come closer to Christ. We fulfilled our purpose.

Last miracle....... TAMMY AND HER GIRLS CAME!! Oh we were overjoyed!! 😭❤ Except the whole time we were so nervous about every word that came out of anyones mouth 😂 and in sunday school some member brought up some deep doctrine and we were a little panicked haha but it all ended well. The daughters liked young womans! We will hopefully get to see them on Saturday to start teaching them😊

Spiritual Thought:
"To those who have been offended or lost interest [in the Church], or who have turned away for any reason, we invite all of you to join in full fellowship again with us. The faithful members, with all their faults and failings, are humbly striving to do God's holy work across the world. We need your help in the great struggle against the powers of darkness so prevalent in the world today."

Well North Carolina is super rad and I know I was called here for many reasons. ❤ I hope that whoever still reads these emails knows how much I love them and am thankful for them😊 Have an amazing week!

PS we are going hiking for zone activity soooo if you dont hear back from me today sorry in advance, I will catch you next week😘

#71 Too Blessed To Be Stressed! August 7, 2017

Holy inspired transfer! This week has been FANTASTIC! Isn't just so amazing how Heavenly Father knows exactly who needs to be your companion?! Yay for fresh starts and new beginnings! ✌

So Tuesday we got to pick up my new companion! Sister Fonatano!! She is from..... VEGAS! Woot Woot! She went to Rancho and obviously we have some connections. (like Tahnee trained one of her best friends, one of her young womans leaders works at Make A Wish, and a few others)

Wednesday we met with the Zone Leaders to set some goals for this transfer. So every zone here has a nickname of sorts...except ours. I suggested some the last few transfers but no one wanted to have a nickname. But alls well that ends well. We are now officially, "The Winston Wolf Pack" We have had lots of fun with it already! 🌜🐺

Saturday we were asked to sing in a group at the Stake Womans Conference! We also stayed and went to the classes with Diana, a recent convert in the ward. And bonusssss.... all my favorite ladies from Stuart were there!! Tender mercies are real my friends. You would think that was the biggest miracle of that day, but nope it gets better!

Miracle #1 : So we went and contacted an investigator and then decided to find around her area. There was a street I had never been on before so we decided to go down there. We also decided to walk to the bottom and work our way up. While doing so, a lady and her two daughters were outside. So we started talking with them. Turns out they had met with missionaries before and even had been to church! They said they were interested in meeting with us again! 😊

Miracle #2 : Saturday night we had just met this man who became a new investigator and we were already on cloud 9, then we walked back to the car. We had  set a goal that day to talk to EVERYONE about church so that we could hit our sacrament attendance goal this week. We invited a lot of people but nothing was too solid...THEN,  when we were out finding, we were about to go to the car when we felt prompted to talk to a mom and daughter down the road. Long story short, they were super nice, we shared Chapel Tours videos with them, and they committed to come to church the next day (with another daughter too) and we were really excited about it!! The Lord will always place people in our path when we work to achieve our goals!!! Sadly , they texted us and said they forgot it was their sunday school teachers last day. But they loved meeting us and will for sure come next week! 😭❤

One last story. So we were in Relief Society yesterday and Sister Rogers was giving a fantastic lesson....when all of a sudden we hear someone gasping for breath. Another sister in our ward had a heart attack!!!! Like what?! 911 was called, doctors from the lewisville ward came in, it was all sorts of crazy. But we heard she is okay, so that's good!

Spiritual Thought:
"Those who listen to and follow the counsel of living prophets and apostles will not go astray. The teachings of living prophets provide an anchor of eternal truth in a world of shifting values and help us avoid misery and sorrow. The confusion and strife of the world will not overwhelm us, and we can enjoy the assurance of being in harmony with God's will."

Also for all of those who have endured to the end of this email, and for those who were wondering, My Homecoming will be Sunday September 17th @ 11AM at the Overton building. This will be the only time I mention it, so save the date if you wanna see me. 😘 And if you need any more details you can ask me or momma j

Life is SO good! Especially when you are a missionary! Love you all SO much! Thanks for all you do for me! ❤

#70 The Beginning of the End July 31, 2017

*disclaimer I cry like every 5 minutes lately so be careful what you say in your emails* 😂
Okay but seriously my emotions are just about everywhere and I dont know how I made it to my last transfer.

We had another busy week here in Tanglewood. Last Monday we got together with the sisters for the day! We ate, played games, and laughed alot. I LOVE THEM!❤

A few weeks ago we met this man who seemed super intrested and so our appointment with him was this week. It was the weirdest lesson of my life. He was basically just flipping through Netflix the whole time but still answering the questions we asked. He was also weird about praying. He legit asked how long it would be hahah. We didnt set a return appointment.

We had zone conference  Thursday! So Sister Alexander did this training on families. During it some missionaries did a roleplay with her. During this roleplay they sang the primary song about the wise man and the foolish man. And that my friends is when the tears started rolling. I felt the spirit SO strong and then I thought of my own family and our upbringing. And then I raised my hand to make a comment and lost it even more. In case yall cant tell I LOVE MY FAMILY. 😭❤

After zone conference, we started exchanges! For one last time, Sister Charles and I were a companionship (': It was so much fun! We also saw a miracle! We tried this lady that Sister Christensen have tried 1000000 times and who is never home. But this time she was there!! And let us in!! Yay!!

Also we got transfer news! I am staying and getting Sister Fontanio! Who is from VEGAS😍 Yay!! Sister Christensen is going to my homeland of Concord ❤

Spiritual Thought: As you seek to be happy, remember that the only way to real happiness is to live the gospel. You will find peaceful, eternal happiness as you strive to keep the commandments, pray for strength, repent of your sins, participate in wholesome activities, and give meaningful service. You will learn to have fun within the limits set by a loving Father in Heaven.

Well yall here is my address one last time

Well first off HAPPY PIONEER DAY! Today marks over 100 years since the early Saints reached the Salt Lake Valley after months of trial and hardship. So do me a favor a go watch 17 Miracles today.💙

This week was crazy busy and most days I felt like a chicken with my head cut off. But onward ever onward!

We had another MLC on Tuesday. We drove down with the Greensboro sisters! No one knew why we were having this extra MLC so we had a lot of guesses. We were wrong about all of them haha. We had a really spiritually meeting with the Assistants, who trained us on exchanges and just being better, kinder, and more loving leaders.

Also miracle! We meet with this less active and no joke everytime its a disaster. He argues everything and just makes us frustrated haha so this was the magic solution : having an opening prayer. Awful we just figured this out. We normal just chit chat before and it leads into the lesson, then the prayer doesn't happen. But this time it did. And it was the best, calmest lesson ever, he even said the closing prayer!  🙌🙌

We went on exchanges with the Bethania sisters! I got to be with Sister Flake this time. We had a lot of fun! And get this. We go have an appointment with a less active and her son. I was talking to the son and thinking "he sounds so familiar but I dont know why." Then I hear his mom say to Sister Flake "after my husband died, i fell and broke my hip..." Then I connected the dots. Her last name is Taylor and when I realized that I asked if she had a son named Todd. Of course she did! I was in the home of my last branch presidents mother!! I was in Stuart when all those tragedies took place, so I heard all about it. I just love crazy connections and tender mercies😊

Saturday another miracle occurred, we finally got to teach this lady we met a few weeks ago! Her name is Jeanette! She was so great and she wants us to help her husband with his faith as well! We are excited to go back 😊 #foreverfamilyforthewin ALSO when we pulled up to that area something crazy happened. Remember how last week we prayed with Patsy the super old lady? Well there was a ton of cars by her house and then two limos pull up with flags that say Fueneral!!! Patsy died😮

The rest of the week, we got to teach some people and help them start progressing so that always makes life better! Oh I have a funny story! We went out to eat with this member who is in charge of a single adults activity coming up and she is really stressed out. So she was thinking of ways to get out of it and somehow one of the elders in our ward was mentioned, and she goes " Oh he is cute as a button!! Do you think I could marry him by Saturday?" 😂😂 hahahah  WE DIED!

Spiritual Thought: I didn't find a quote or a scripture this time, but I wanted to bare you my testimony on the power of priesthood blessings. This whole week and actually for a while I have literally felt like I was gonna explode. I have a lot of things I have to be in charge of, I have a short amount of time left to accomplish it all, and I was just at the end of my rope. Sister Christensen and I both received a priesthood blessing from our Bishop yesterday. They were both so personable and exactly what we needed to hear. There was no doubt in my mind that Bishop Eldredge held the priesthood power necessary for that.  The fog that clouded my mind was cleared, I felt the weight come off my shoulders. I can testify that this is the one and only true church that Jesus Christ established. The same priesthood he held, can be held by all worthy males of the church. I am SO thankful for men who treat that priesthood respectfully so they too can help those who hang down.

I am so unbelievably glad I am here in North Carolina. It is sacred ground. Thank you thank you thank you for your continued prayers, emails, and just general support. You have no idea how much it helps. I love you all!! Have an incredible week❤

#68 ZONE WEEK *** July 17, 2017

**** From the MOM --- Jenni has lest than 2 months before returning home.   She is focused and working hard.   She LOVES to get letters....it is easy...just email her at the address on this blog.   Thanks!

Hey Y'all! I can't believe it is already Monday!!!! I need time to take a chill pill for a second.

This week we were kept pretty busy per usual. Last Monday we had a district activity at Rockin' Jump, which is a trampoline park. It was way fun! We treated ourselves to Subway after and just got to hang out and get to know each other better!😊

Tuesday was cow appreciation day  so obviously we hit up Chik Fil A! It was packed! But so worth it! Our picture even ended up on some Facebook page haha. We also stopped by a 7/11 because thats just what you do on 7/11!❤🐄

So this whole week was #ZoneWeek. So we used to have Zone Meeting once a month, but that stopped a few transfers ago so some real creative missionaries came up with a replacement! So this is how zone week works, everyday we get on Facebook messenger at 10am. We start as a companionship with a song and prayer then send in an emjoi when we were ready. Then us or the Zone Leaders lead out the discussions! We had bad example videos to discuss what we could do better, we had companions send in their role plays, and the best part was everyday had a theme with a challenge and a limited time hashtag! It was great and we saw a lot of miracles as we got out of our comfort zones! A miracle we saw together was on Wednesday our training was how to use the Book of Mormon in our finding and teaching efforts. We were challenged to give out a Book of Mormon that day. Sister Christensen and I had a full day with only 2 hours of finding time. But Heavenly Father answers prayers!! (duh of course he does) We were able to give not one out but two! Sadly they were both to people who were just visiting or house sitting so we don't get to see them again, but we can send missionaries their way!

I will spare you every detail from zone week and move on to some more fun stories!

Wednesday we were able to be in charge of Activity Days. We taught them about missionary work and even had them practice. It made my heart SO FULL! Also this was a convo we had with an 8 year old
Her: Wait so do missionaries not get to watch normal TV?
Us: nope! or movies or play on the computer or even have a smart phone
Her: thats why i cant be a missionary, i cant live like that                                        😂😂😂

We ran into 2 Vivent boys this week. Both were returned missionaries (,: One asked for some pass along cards from us that he could hand out! yay!!

I have one other interesting story but that is going to be told by a voice memo because why not?

ALSO stop what you are doing and google Bill Carpenters conversion story. It will change your life.

Spiritual Thought: I would love to invite y'all to join our mission in reading the Book of Mormon and studying the Christ-like attributes with it. "The Book of Mormon combined with the Spirit, is your most powerful resource in conversion." (PMG, pg. 110 )  This includes each of our personal conversions. Attached is the reading schedule and calendar. We began reading on Saturday, July 15. Read and study the Book of Mormon, marking scriptures that refer to the "Christlike Attributes" in Chapter 6 of Preach My Gospel. Read 5 pages each day (the calendar includes several make up days) and you will complete the reading with the mission on November 10

As missionaries, we hope to receive the blessings that President Monson promised us:
"I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day.  As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven's help in our lives."  Reading the Book of Mormon and studying the attributes of our Master, will help each of us become more consecrated disciples.  I invite each of you to accept this invitation and seriously study the Book of Mormon every day.  I testify that as you do, the promises given by our dear Prophet, President Monson, will be fulfilled in your life.

If you have any questions feel free to ask! And if you need a Book of Mormon hop over to mormon.org and request a free copy! 😊

Thank you again for all your support with my missionary efforts! Y'all are the best and I just am so thankful to have you all in my life!! Have a wonderful week! LOVE Y'ALL! ❤❤❤

July 10, 2017

***** Disclaimer....the MOM is behind on the blog....this is last week (the 4th of July stuff)  ****  Enjoy!   Lots of fun things here!

Oh my gosh y'all, it has been a week! Actually it has been a transfer. I never sleep haha BUT IT'S OKAY BC MISSION LIFE IS THE BEST. Just like this week. So let me share some things with you 😊

Monday: Zone Activity! We had been fasting as a zone for the week before so we had a break the fast BBQ activity! It was so fun! We played water balloon volleyball, missionary tag, had a water balloon fight, and a watermelon eating contest. It was the besttttt❤ Everyone had so much fun, I love the Winston Zone!

Tuesday: Happy 4th!! I am thankful for the freedoms I have been blessed with and for the individuals that help us keep them. We had a ward pancake breakfast which was fun! After that I got to go to Greensboro on exchanges with..... SISTER HICKENLOOPER🙌💕 It was the best way to spend the 4th! We had so much fun catching up😊 The Greensboro zone helped at this festival so we were in charge of helping people park..... for 4 hours! It was fun though! I have not been in a crowd that big forever haha I got to be stationed with Sister Garcia! She is from Reno! Yay for Nevada!! She is super cute! It was fun to be with her! Plus we got a free tee shirt and duh who doesnt like those?!

Wednesday: Another great day! Because we had MLC! I looooove MLC! We were given some great advice and training and I left feeling so HAPPY! The urgency to spread the gospel is too real right now and how blessed am I to get to do it?? 😭❤ Also got to be with 5 of my past companions so like hello it doesnt get better than that....oh wait it does.... BECAUSE WE GOT PANDA EXPRESS FOR DINNER 😍 It was glorious.

Friday: Interviews with the Alexanders. *cries bc i only have one left*  I know I say it all the time, but the Alexanders are heaven sent❤ Forever grateful I was called to serve with them. We also had exchanges with the Pilot Mountain sisters! Sister Atkisson (who is brand spankin new) came with me! She is SO amazing! She has that new missionary fire in her❤ We found 2 new investigators and it was a miracle! Plus she loves TSwift and we got sushi so it was a super great exchange hahah

The rest of the week was filled with teaching people repentance and sadly not baptizing any converts haha one day. Speaking of! I had my first baptism on the mission a year ago yesterday❤ So crazy how fast it all goes by! But we are looking forward to seeing the people we have been finding progress in this great gospel😊

Spiritual Thought:   "What if the day of His coming were tomorrow? If we knew that we would meet the Lord tomorrow—through our premature death or His unexpected coming—what would we do today? What confessions would we make? What practices would we discontinue? What accounts would we settle? What forgivenesses would we extend? What testimonies would we bear? If we would do those things then, why not now? Why not seek peace while peace can be obtained? If our lamps of preparation are drawn down, let us start immediately to replenish them."

Okay well yall are amazing. I sure love ya! Enjoy this little extra thing I added to this email! ❤😊

Monday, July 3, 2017

Oh my goodness! This week was crazyyyy and this upcoming week will be even craizer! #thelifeofanstl

So remember last week when I told yall that the one lady we met last weekend called and wanted us to come over? Well we did. It was going so great she was really emotional and telling us she felt like she needed to reach out to us.... turns out she just wanted us to loan her money to get out of debt🙃 like what?! So weird.

So this week as a zone we had fast week! So every companionship took a turn! So all day Wednesday we went without food and water so we can see miracles! It worked 😊 We found a new investigator! Wahooo! We actually found 5 this week so we are pumped🙌  side story: while we were fasting we went to service at the old folks home. We alllways bake with them. It took everything in me not to lick the spoon of the chocolate cake mix hahaha but its ok I didnt give in and it was worth it!

So we had exchanges back to back this week! On Thursday, Sister Peterson from High Point, came here with me! It was so great! I learned alot from her and we were able to find some solid potentials! The next day I went to Bethania with Sister Payne! Fun fact, she said she wanted to go to Spain on her mission haha so I told her my mom got that covered for her #hermanapayne Also we arent related well I dont think we are haha. But  it was a good time! I loved it! While we were there we taught someone who was high as a kite😂 it was intresting. That is my favorite part of talking with everyone, you get fun stories! Also this lady we talked to told me to come back after my mission and marry her son???😂 people are nuts

Spiritual Thought:  "As we pray with faith, sincerity, and real intent, we will see God's influence in our lives. He will guide us in our daily lives and help us make good decisions. He will bless us with feelings of comfort and peace."

That was pretty much my week! I love being a missionary so much. Yesterday we walked by primary and they were singing" I hope they call me on a mission"  and I started crying hahaha I wish I could stay forever! I am so grateful for this gospel and I invite everyone to do something this week to increase your faith in Jesus Christ. It makes life worth living💕 This week is gonna be crazy fun! I am so pumped! ❤ I hope to here allll about y'all and what kind of fun things you have been up to! Have a good 4th and enjoy the fireworks🇱🇷💙

#65 June 26, 2017 ALL IN

The Blog
Okay so this week was a little more exciting!

We had district activity last Monday! So we went bowling, it was fun! I bowled over 100 (': that for sure never happens so I was pumped!👊

Tuesday we had an MLC conference call. Sister Christensen and I were excited because we thought President was gonna announce something super exciting, like us being able to go to the temple, but sadly none of that happened. It was kinda just a discussion about being good leaders and helping the mission. BUT he did announce something great! STLs can now go on exchanges with other STLs! 🙌 So we are excited!

We are still talking to everyone we see which really makes the work more exciting. And on Tueaday night we met David. We had a really good conversation and we made some connections! He told us he had family from Spain, so I of course told him my mom served a mission there. Then he said his wife is from Brazil, so of course I asked where because my best friend is there. And y'all! His wife is from RIBERTO PRETO AKA TAHNEES MISSION! So then I asked if he knew where Penapolis (her area) was and when he said yes I just got this wave of joy! Even though it sounds a little silly, it just made me thankful for Heavenly Father placing people in our paths at the right moments❤

Speaking of that, we were walking to our car after trying some people and felt like we needed to talk to this lady. So we did and she let us right in! Also she had the cutest daughter! Anyway they are looking for a church and especially one that the tithing goes to a good cause and not to buy a preacher a new car. So of course we were all over that! We taught her the restoration and I was just so happy! It was going great.....until the first vision. Then satan ruined everything per usual. She was weirded out by the Book of Mormon and said she would have to do her research. It was a terrible ending, but I am still thankful we got to meet her!

And one more story! So Saturday we drove to an area and lightening flashed right in front of us, and then the same second thunder roared. It was freaky but so amazing! Anyway it immediately started pouring! But the work stops for nothing! We got to talk with a couple for a while, it didn't end in a return appointment or anything. But this morning we got a text from the wife and she wants us to come to their house! So we are in shock, I am telling you this like is so rare when people actually call us, but we are excited!

The Winston zone is making a comback! The last few months we haven't had much luck, but in 3 days we found 29 New Investigators! Which hasn't happened for a while! But the zone is All In and ready to kick the trash out of this transfer 👊😂 So many exciting things will be going down these next 5 weeks! This week we are having fast week, so a few companionship will be fasting on a certain day, and we all know big miracles will come ❤

Spiritual Thought:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son … that the world through him might be saved" - John 3:16
So I am almost done reading Jesus the Christ and I STRONGLY recommend it. I just finished reading about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and my appreciation increased greatly. I am SO thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who would send us His son, and for His son sacrificing himself for everyone past, present, and future.

Being a missionary is the bessssst😍 I am looking forward to this week! I hope you are all enjoying your summers and not melting too badly in that 120 degree heat 😉 Hope to hear from you soon! Love youuuuu🖤
