Hey y'all! It was a crazy week here in Stuart! 

So Tuesday we were out doing our thing and we were working in an area we hadn't been before. So like always we said a prayer before getting out of the car. We had a goal of 3 new investigators this week, so I prayed that we would find one on this street. So we knock like 4 doors, no one is home, or interested. So we see some more at the very end of the street and so we decided to go for it. It was one of those split homes. So we tried one side, no answer, but someone answered on side 2! They let us in and we taught a brief restoration and really focused on the Book of Mormon! So not only did God answer our prayer of one investigator, he gave us two! #blessed 

Wednesday was the crazy day. So we went to Mount Airy for district meeting, then had district lunch at Cracker Barrel. The service was so slowwwww. We had to go to Firestone in Winston and we planned on doing that before we had interviews with our mission president. But because lunch took so long, it had to wait till after. Which is a great thing, let me tell ya why. So we dropped our car off and the mall was right by Firestone so naturally  that's where we waited. Two hours later we get a call. Apparently something in our car was broken AND THEY NEEDED TO KEEP IT OVERNIGHT😅😭 We went in to full panic mode. We had nothing with us to spend the night anywhere, including those little pills I take everynight to keep me alive. So thank the high heavens we were in our Sister Training Leaders area! 🙌 They came and picked us up and we were able to do twice the missionary work! And have an unexpected sleepover, where I got to experience brushing my teeth with my fingers. I am very thankful for the invention of the tooth brush. 

So next day. They called in the morning and said they got to part and they would have it done  in the afternoon. So we did weekly planning and then the sisters dropped us off to wait. And what do you know, Olive Garden was conveniently located right by Firestone. So of course we treated ourselves😜 We ended up getting home around 4pm. You could say we slept real good that night!

Saturday we were able to meet a Less Active who is actual semi active just not in the right place haha. So we let him know that Stuart has a branch! And bonus! He is getting married in 2 weeks and wants us to teach his wife🎉😊

Hey y'all! I promise this email will be a little more exciting than last week!😜

Pday last week was the best. We had a zone activity and had mini olympics and a cook out! After that Sister Charles and I went to the Pilot Mountain sisters apartments where Sister Brown made our eyebrows look nice again and I gave everyone jamberry gel nails❤ It was so nice and relaxing! 

Tuesday we got to attend a Jewish Sader!  It was in place of the Tuesday night meeting. It was a new experience, but it was nice. While everyone was drinking wine, we opted for grape juice haha but Sister Charles did refill someones glass so of course I will never let her forget that she served someone alcohol on her mission😜 Also that night on the way home, a racoon RAN INTO OUR CAR! I was mortified. #myfirstroadkill 

Wednesday we were able to see our recent convert Katelynn! She is such a sweet girl! Plus she gave out a Book of Mormon to her teacher! Missionary in training amirite?!  

Thursday we had zone meeting! It was great! The STL's gave a training about unity and compared it to marriage and before they started  they were like we have a special guest... and then one of our elders comes in and drops rose petals down the aisle and starts the whole princess bride wedding scene. It was pretty funny. And weird. But mostly funny. 

After the meeting I headed to the big city with Sister Roth for exchanges! And oh man I was in heaven. There were so many people!! We talked to so many! Found new investigators, and even put one of their investigators on date for baptism 😍 It was glorious. Plus I got to finally go on exchanges with Sister Roth! She's so great!! 😊 

Saturday night we were invited over to a members home to dye easter eggs! So that was some messy fun! Oh and before we got there, we were up in a far away area of our mission and our gps actually took us out of our mission for like 3 minutes to get to their house and we were kinda in panic mode 😂 but at least now I can say I have been in Henry County😜  

Easter was great! We were fed by the Turner family, who I loveeeee❤ But of course the meaning of Easter is not the family gatherings or the candy you get. I know that my redeemer lives. I am so thankful for his courageous sacrifice in our behalf. He lived, died, and lived again, so that we too may all live again! As a mission we all read the book of John leading up to Easter. It made me feel closer to Christ. So I would invite you all to do the same! Get to know him better! You will find so much peace in your life if you do! 😊

Spiritual Thought:

This was from our Sunday school lesson yesterday and I just kept thinking of all my friends who actually honored their priesthood. I have seen those blessings in their lives and I just wanted to express my gratitude for their examples 😊 So if you are a priesthood holder I encourage you to honor it! So you too can be that good example in someones life!

Hey Y'all! This week was not super exciting but I can still tell ya about it! 

Tuesday we got to teach the religious meeting! We shared the Prince of Peace video and talked about Christ's Resurrection! It went pretty good! 😊 If you havent watched the video yet, go do it! @ mormon.org ❤

On Wednesday after district meeting and service, we were able to teach a few less actives! Some we hadn't met yet which was great! We also had a really good lesson with our recent convert Katelynn. There was also a HUGE thunderstorm that night that literally shook our apartment. So that was exciting.

Friday we hit 50,000 miles which means we are up for a brand new mission car🎉  This weekend we also helped out at a local Rescue Squad fundraiser event. So we did LOT'S of service. But it was way fun! And we got to be in the community! 

Sunday a miracle happened! One of the people that come to the Tuesday night meeting came to church!!!🙌 And stayed 2 hours!! Wahoooooo! We were pumped! 

Sorry this week was kinda lame. Maybe next week will be a little more exciting! 😂 Since my week was so ehh feel free to share some exciting things about your week😊

53 MY CUP RUNNETH OVER

****  Jenni asked me to post this Monday.....I got sidetracked.  Ooops!  Here it is.   For some reason, she gets very hit and miss on whether it posts from her end or not.   

Anyway, this is April 3rd Edition!   Enjoy.....

I am on a Rollercoaster that only goes up my friends! Okay that is totally a quote from The Fault In Our Stars, but it pretty much sums up my week. 

This week started off with a beautiful rainstorm complete with big thunder and bright lightening. And those pretty purple skies! One of my favorite things out here, are the storms❤

On Tuesday we were up in the mountains visiting former investigators and trying to visit less active members. We knocked on a door expecting the less active to answer, but Sister Gray answered! It was a sweet surprise! Her daughter was the one we were looking for, but we didn't realize she lived with her. We got to meet her grandson who is mentally handicapped. He had such a sweet spirit to him! We learned that he loves Primary songs, so we sang to him 😊 

Thursday I turned one year old in the mission field (': Still so weird. But it was an exciting day because this mom and daughter that come to the Tuesday night meeting that we have been DYING to teach, set up an appointment with us🙌😭🎉 We got there and they invited us to eat with them, and they showed us around their home and little farm. We were able to answer some questions for them and go over the first discussion! We ended up only teaching 3 / 5 family members, and it didn't go as perfect as we role played it to be, but it was still a miracle. Both daughters excepted a Book of Mormon, and wanted to tune in to conference! So hopefully we see some progress with this sweet family in the future❤

I have never been so tired as I was on Friday. Okay that is probably false but oh man it was a LONG day! So we had district meeting in Mount Airy. I am finally in a district with another set of sisters! Can I get a hallelujah?! 🙌 After that we rushed to get some lunch, then rushed to Statesville to meet Sister Lewis, our mission nurse. She drove us to Charlotte for my last Dr appointment on the mission   *happy dances bc I miss my own doctor*  The appointment went fine, there was some increase in some medical term I can't remember, but they weren't worried about it.    In case you were wondering, I didn't cry as much as I did the other two appointments. But I did tear up, because being an adult is hard, and sometimes you just want your mom.  The appointment was done at 4:30 aka prime traffic time, so we stopped for dinner. We got to Statesville around 7:30, treated ourself to Sweet Frog frozen yogurt, cause we don't see civilized places like that too often, and then finally drove home. We got home a little after 9 and were beat. 

But guess what was cherry on top of the week?? GENERAL CONFERENCE!!🎉💗 Oh man it was so so good! So this whole paragraph will just be my spiritual thought okay? Ok. I wrote down some quotes that I love! "Be an example of living the doctrine" It is so easy to go to church, and listen to what's said and then just forget about it as soon as you get home. There is a big difference in going to church and living the doctrine. So try harder to be that example. You never know who is watching or who's life you will touch. 

"Come as you are but dont plan to stay as you are" This sums up my year on my mission so far. I came on a mission, not fully aware of all the gospel had to offer. I know I have been changed, for the better. I feel the same in some aspects on my personality. But I am not the same person I was a year ago and I love it. 

"I kept my promise cause I said I would." I loved this talk. Always remember what you have promised, not only to God, but even people in your own life. Christ was the perfect example of keeping his promises, so let us try and follow that example. 

There was a lot more that I loved, but you probably stopped reading 3 paragraphs ago, and at this point I am just exercising my fingers. But over all Conference was great. I feel like the main theme was repentence. But in a loving, gentle way. And the Plan of Salvation! If you didnt get to watch it, member or not, go and watch!! Heavenly Father even blessed us in between and after conference with 2 new investigators! We are so happy!!  😊

Sorry this was SO long, but I am sure, or hopeful at least my parents read it all 😜 Love you all so incredibly much! I know that Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ are there for us all. They picked me up at my lowest point, just to raise me higher. Life can be hard, but the gospel makes everything so WORTH IT!! ❤

This week zoomed by, but what else is new? 

So we had interviews this week, It felt like I hadn't had them in forever! So it was so good to be with the Alexanders. They always know exactly how to help! 😊 President told me he has seen alot of growth in me, which is always nice to hear especially when you don't recognize it yourself. We also had our last district meeting of the transfer, which is sad because I really liked this district! And this next transfer, our district is getting all rearranged. Speaking of transfers, I am staying put in good old Stuart for at least 6 more weeks! 🙌

 Friday was an exciting day! So we were asked to be on the radio! We were guests on, "Patrick County Profiles." I am going to try to send the media file out later today, but if not you can find it on my moms facebook page! But anyway it was fun! Surprisingly I wasn't nervous at all! We talked about our beliefs, what we do as missionaries, and sorted out some myths about our church! Unfortunately, not everyone flocked to the church this Sunday, but we planted seeds! And one day all of Patrick County will be converted 😉 

We also had our branch chili cook off! Sister Charles and I worked SO hard on a cute display for it and like 3 non members showed up. And didn't pay any attention to it🙃 But it's okay, that's how we learn humility right? 😜 We were asked to be the judges, which I was so not thrilled about, but it was okay. Everyone who came had a good time and that's what matters!  😊

On Saturday BOTH our recent converts went to the temple🎉🙌 Katelynn thought we were coming with her, and we wished we could!!! 😭 Sadly the temple is not in our mission boundaries, the struggle is real. But on the bright side, both Wendell and Katelynn had a great experience!❤

We were blessed to have the General Womans Conference this weekend too! We gathered with part of the stake to watch it! It was obviously so good! One of the talks struck me, it was given by the general relief society president. She talked about the influence of certain women in the church. Which got me thinking of certain women that I admire! I have been so blessed in my life to be influenced by such good women. I thought of obviously my mom, sister, aunts, and many women in my home ward and stake. I hope they know how thankful I am for their influence in my life💗   

And lastly.... WHERE DOES TIME GO?!? This day last year I was giving my farewell talk! This Thursday I hit my one year mark!😮😭🙃 It's insane. When I first got out I prayed for time to go fast I thought I would never see the end. But now I pray for time to slow down! And I don't want to see the end! Some days are harder than others. I would be lying if I said I never wished I could be with my family or go to a certain event with my friends,  but missionary life is incredible. And it is worth all the worldly things that people tell me I am missing out on. Coming out on my mission I really had no expectations or thoughts of what it would be like. I just came! And I am so glad I did! As basic as this sounds, I can't picture my life without my mission. I really can't. So I will hold these next 5 1/2 months near to my heart, because in a blink of an eye, they will be gone!! 

Spiritual Thought: 

"Sin will always be sin. Disobedience to the Lord's commandments will always deprive us of His blessings. The world changes constantly and dramatically, but God, His commandments, and promised blessings do not change."

#51 HAPPY SPRING March 20, 2017

 🍀💗💚

It was another good week! I swear all the weeks just melt together and fly by so quick! 

This past Tuesday I had my first vegan meal, can't say I was a fan, but the experience was good I guess! I also got to drive in ths snow for the first time in my life! 

At the religious meeting we were asked to read a bible scripture for the lady leading, and after this other man started saying how the King James Version has faults in it and blah blah blah and then the cutest thing happened. Another lady stood up for us! She said " Their prophet told them to read that version so they are gonna do it!" (': 

Wednesday we had a super powerful lesson with an investigator named Regina. 

We taught the Plan of Salvation and she opened up to us alot. That day we also saw a less active we are working with who is giving up smoking! So for the first time in my mission life, we were able to ask him for his cigarettes!! He gave them to us haha so natuarlly we took a selfie. 

Thursday we were spoiled because a General Authority drove 600 miles to come to our Zone Conference!!! His name is Elder Zaballos and his sweet wife came too! They are both from Chile! It was a really good meeting! He talked for a little bit about the mission call process and how the ission president and his wife have a kinda big role in it. I know for a fact I needed to be with the Alexanders! They are literally angels. In the words of my wise old companion Sis Hill, " I would serve a mission all over again just to know the Alexanders" ❤ 

Friday was a happy St Patty's Day for sure! I thought of my cute grandma Tonia alot 💚 We had such a busy busy day! But it ended with a baptism!! Katelynn who is 12 got baptized Friday night! She has been going to church with her grandma for a while and wanted so badly to be baptized! She was so thrilled!! We were too! 😊

The rest of the week just involved a lot of door knocking and trying to build our teaching pool! 

Spiritual Thought: 

"In obedience there is joy and peace unspotted, unalloyed; and as God has designed our happiness … He never will institute an ordinance or give a commandment to His people that is not calculated in its nature to promote that happiness which He has designed, and which will not end in the greatest amount of good and glory to those who become the recipients of his law and ordinances."

This week I find out my fate if I am staying or leaving Stuart! I am pretty sure I will stay but I guess we will find out! But if you have been hiding any mail to send my way make sure it gets here by next monday just in case 😘

WOW. I had the best week ever!! I seriously am so pumped to be writing this.

So Tuesday, we got to lead the religious meeting. Best part though was President & Sister Alexander picked us up and came with us!! They had been in a meeting in Charlotte ALL day and didnt even get to eat dinner, but they still drove the 2 and a half hours up here BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST EVER❤ Seriously. And like I am so thankful because they saved us when some of the questions people asked got tricky haha. 

Wednesday we had zone meeting. We got to have a pancake breakfast before to celebrate meeting last months goals. The meeting was great though. We have some power house missionaries up here in Winston! I guess our zone has the best investigator/baptism ratio in the mission so thats pretty neat! 

Okay now to the good part. Y'all still with me? 

This weekend was so great! Friday we drove to Winston and had a sisters sleepover (minus the pilot mtn sisters) I haven't had one of those since my days in Concord! Haha it was full of junk food and giggles. Oh and really ugly selfies. I am pretty sure no one got a good nights sleep because we were way too pumped for the next day. 

Saturday we drove to Charlotte and got Chick Fil A because why not, then got to the church building. Every missionary was there. It was so great. Obviously I ran to all my past companions that I miss with everything that I am. It was a joyous reunion. So they had us line up and situated us for a mission pic. Sister Alexander came in and started crying. She said she has never seen everyone together. It was precious❤ So we were all where we needed to be for the picture, and then Elder Quentin L Cook walked right past me and a wave of spirit filled me. In case you didn't know, just like Jesus Christ had 12 apostles, we too have 12 apostles since this is Christs church restored. So Elder Cook is one of those apostles. It is a pretty big deal. Anyway after the picture we lined up and walked into the chapel. We got to shake the hands of Elder Cook, Elder Klebingat (of the 70), and Elder McArthur (area 70) , and their wives too! 

The other general authorites spoke, and their wives. Then Elder Cooks turn! I won't tell you everything he ever said to us, if you want to know you can ask. But I will tell you the spirit was STRONG. And it was something I needed. I can testify he is an apostle of the Lord, He has been called of God. He left a blessing on all of us that one day we would see the impact of our missions. It will bless our lives, our families lives, and our future generations. What more could you ask for? 

Sunday was just as great, although to be 100% honest I was SO distracted this time haha. So we drove down to Charlotte with the Mullins at 7am! (Yay for day light savings 🙃) We had a regional, 7 stake, conference at the Coliseum. Every missionaries dream part 2, because all the areas we serve in were invited to come aka I saw ALOT of people I love. Which is why I was distracted hahah because I was looking for those faces. I saw the Tracys aka my Lancaster family so pretty much best day ever. 

The same people spoke as on Saturday, just with different messages! Elder Cook spoke about some ways we can establish Zion in our hearts and in our homes. I will make this my spiritual thought because this email is getting long. Sorry not sorry. 

1) Have religious observance in your home 

2) Be an example where ever you live

3) Honor the Sabbath Day. He talked a lot about this. I am pretty sure it is one of the most broken commandments. Like hello people. He didn't give a do's a don't list but just counseled to do wholesome activities with your family. But when we do better at honoring the sabbath, we will be more blessed!  

4) Focus on the importance of the temples 

He left another special blessing and in it he talked about loving those in your family who are going down forbidden paths. Which hit home. We all have people we care about who may not be doing what we think they should be. But we should love them anyway!! 

Okay so sorry but like this weekend was so great. If you wanna hear more about the other speakers let me know!! Today I realized I have exactly 6 months left AND I FREAKED OUT. Seriously this is the good life. I love it and I love ALL of you!! Your support and prayers lift me up! 😘❤
