#51 HAPPY SPRING March 20, 2017

 ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’š

It was another good week! I swear all the weeks just melt together and fly by so quick!

This past Tuesday I had my first vegan meal, can't say I was a fan, but the experience was good I guess! I also got to drive in ths snow for the first time in my life!

At the religious meeting we were asked to read a bible scripture for the lady leading, and after this other man started saying how the King James Version has faults in it and blah blah blah and then the cutest thing happened. Another lady stood up for us! She said " Their prophet told them to read that version so they are gonna do it!" (':

Wednesday we had a super powerful lesson with an investigator named Regina.
We taught the Plan of Salvation and she opened up to us alot. That day we also saw a less active we are working with who is giving up smoking! So for the first time in my mission life, we were able to ask him for his cigarettes!! He gave them to us haha so natuarlly we took a selfie.

Thursday we were spoiled because a General Authority drove 600 miles to come to our Zone Conference!!! His name is Elder Zaballos and his sweet wife came too! They are both from Chile! It was a really good meeting! He talked for a little bit about the mission call process and how the ission president and his wife have a kinda big role in it. I know for a fact I needed to be with the Alexanders! They are literally angels. In the words of my wise old companion Sis Hill, " I would serve a mission all over again just to know the Alexanders" ❤

Friday was a happy St Patty's Day for sure! I thought of my cute grandma Tonia alot ๐Ÿ’š We had such a busy busy day! But it ended with a baptism!! Katelynn who is 12 got baptized Friday night! She has been going to church with her grandma for a while and wanted so badly to be baptized! She was so thrilled!! We were too! ๐Ÿ˜Š

The rest of the week just involved a lot of door knocking and trying to build our teaching pool!

Spiritual Thought:
"In obedience there is joy and peace unspotted, unalloyed; and as God has designed our happiness … He never will institute an ordinance or give a commandment to His people that is not calculated in its nature to promote that happiness which He has designed, and which will not end in the greatest amount of good and glory to those who become the recipients of his law and ordinances."

This week I find out my fate if I am staying or leaving Stuart! I am pretty sure I will stay but I guess we will find out! But if you have been hiding any mail to send my way make sure it gets here by next monday just in case ๐Ÿ˜˜

I hope you all have a blessed week! Hope to hear from ya soon! Love ya!  ❤

WOW. I had the best week ever!! I seriously am so pumped to be writing this.

So Tuesday, we got to lead the religious meeting. Best part though was President & Sister Alexander picked us up and came with us!! They had been in a meeting in Charlotte ALL day and didnt even get to eat dinner, but they still drove the 2 and a half hours up here BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST EVER❤ Seriously. And like I am so thankful because they saved us when some of the questions people asked got tricky haha.

Wednesday we had zone meeting. We got to have a pancake breakfast before to celebrate meeting last months goals. The meeting was great though. We have some power house missionaries up here in Winston! I guess our zone has the best investigator/baptism ratio in the mission so thats pretty neat!

Okay now to the good part. Y'all still with me?

This weekend was so great! Friday we drove to Winston and had a sisters sleepover (minus the pilot mtn sisters) I haven't had one of those since my days in Concord! Haha it was full of junk food and giggles. Oh and really ugly selfies. I am pretty sure no one got a good nights sleep because we were way too pumped for the next day.

Saturday we drove to Charlotte and got Chick Fil A because why not, then got to the church building. Every missionary was there. It was so great. Obviously I ran to all my past companions that I miss with everything that I am. It was a joyous reunion. So they had us line up and situated us for a mission pic. Sister Alexander came in and started crying. She said she has never seen everyone together. It was precious❤ So we were all where we needed to be for the picture, and then Elder Quentin L Cook walked right past me and a wave of spirit filled me. In case you didn't know, just like Jesus Christ had 12 apostles, we too have 12 apostles since this is Christs church restored. So Elder Cook is one of those apostles. It is a pretty big deal. Anyway after the picture we lined up and walked into the chapel. We got to shake the hands of Elder Cook, Elder Klebingat (of the 70), and Elder McArthur (area 70) , and their wives too!

The other general authorites spoke, and their wives. Then Elder Cooks turn! I won't tell you everything he ever said to us, if you want to know you can ask. But I will tell you the spirit was STRONG. And it was something I needed. I can testify he is an apostle of the Lord, He has been called of God. He left a blessing on all of us that one day we would see the impact of our missions. It will bless our lives, our families lives, and our future generations. What more could you ask for?

Sunday was just as great, although to be 100% honest I was SO distracted this time haha. So we drove down to Charlotte with the Mullins at 7am! (Yay for day light savings ๐Ÿ™ƒ) We had a regional, 7 stake, conference at the Coliseum. Every missionaries dream part 2, because all the areas we serve in were invited to come aka I saw ALOT of people I love. Which is why I was distracted hahah because I was looking for those faces. I saw the Tracys aka my Lancaster family so pretty much best day ever.

The same people spoke as on Saturday, just with different messages! Elder Cook spoke about some ways we can establish Zion in our hearts and in our homes. I will make this my spiritual thought because this email is getting long. Sorry not sorry.

1) Have religious observance in your home
2) Be an example where ever you live
3) Honor the Sabbath Day. He talked a lot about this. I am pretty sure it is one of the most broken commandments. Like hello people. He didn't give a do's a don't list but just counseled to do wholesome activities with your family. But when we do better at honoring the sabbath, we will be more blessed!
4) Focus on the importance of the temples

He left another special blessing and in it he talked about loving those in your family who are going down forbidden paths. Which hit home. We all have people we care about who may not be doing what we think they should be. But we should love them anyway!!

Okay so sorry but like this weekend was so great. If you wanna hear more about the other speakers let me know!! Today I realized I have exactly 6 months left AND I FREAKED OUT. Seriously this is the good life. I love it and I love ALL of you!! Your support and prayers lift me up! ๐Ÿ˜˜❤

Hello everyone! ๐Ÿ˜Š It was a pretty good week here in the Virgina mission feild!

Tuesday was full of miracles! We had Wendell teach us! It was pretty fun. We made and video and fingers crossed that it works!
We were going to contact a less active member and we had like the worst directions given to us. "Red brick house on the right side of the hill". Do you know how many red brick houses by the hill there were?! So Sister Charles and I prayed to be able to find the right one. So we try like the 3rd one we see, planning to just ask if they know who we are looking for. And they did! Because it was him! ๐Ÿ™Œ
Then on the way up the mountain, on very curvy roads, I was turning a corner and I kid you not, was about an inch away from a semi hitting us. They were for sure not all in their lane. So thankfully, I had a tiny patch of dirt to swerve to. God protects his missionaries!!

We had a real cold and rainy Wednesday! The weather here is so bipolar! You honestly never know what you will get.

Thursday we got to attend a baptism for the Mount Airy Elders! The ladies name was Jenny, so I was thrown off alot ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it was a great baptism! Our district is killlllling it๐Ÿ’ช*humble brag*

A miracle happened Friday, Stuart FINALLY got a media referral (someone requesting church media, bible, book of mormon, videos, ect.) And even better! They became a new investigator!!! Yay!!๐ŸŽ‰

We were also able to teach Katelynn a few times. She is 12 and wants to be baptized! She is on date for March 18th! So we are hoping everything works out! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This upcoming week, will be spent preparing to meet Elder Quinten L. Cook, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Also some members of the 70 will be joining! The mission is so excited! I briefly met him when I was in 8th grade, and I dont think I understood the importance of it then. So I am excited to be spiritually prepared for Saturday! And Sunday he will be speaking at a 7 stake conference in Charlotte! So it will be a great week! ๐Ÿ’™

Spiritual Thought:
"Forgiveness is freeing up and putting to better use the energy once consumed by holding grudges, harboring resentments, and nursing unhealed wounds. It is rediscovering the strengths we always had and relocating our limitless capacity to understand and accept other people and ourselves."

I just want you all to know, how thankful I am for this gospel. It changes lives. It can help you endure any hardship that comes your way. It can bring you peace and joy. I love being a missionary. I love being able to serve in the south. There is no where else I would rather be ❤ Have a great week y'all! ๐Ÿ˜˜

This week was SO great๐Ÿ’œ

So Monday as a zone we went and hiked Hanging Rock. I paid for it throughout the rest of the week ๐Ÿ˜… But it was so fun! On the way back down a lot of people stopped us and asked what group we were with. This one lady said "I can tell you are all filled with the Holy Spirit" (': Once we got down we had a little lunch and they made me and Elder Garrett birthday brownies!

Tuesday was my birthday ๐Ÿ™Œ It was 10000% better than last year. Sister Charles was so sweet! She knows that I typically spend my birthday in Disneyland, so she decorated the living room and even made me minnie ears! Ha! Oh and while we were out knocking doors that day we got to a formers house, and right as we stepped out of the car she was on her lawn yelling " GET OFF MY PROPERTY, I AM CALLING THE POLICE" Happy Birthday to me (': Hahah but it was fine. Sister Asbury fed us dinner and then we all went to the religious meeting. They bought me a cake and sang to me. Ahh I love them! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wednesday we had Zone Meeting. The Alexanders plus one of their daughters and her family came! They are the cutest. They even called and sang to me for my birthday! We started exchanges after that! Sister Christensen (fun fact: her grandma is from good old Moapa Valley AND she was at the victory bell senior year when we took state! #smallworld) came to Stuart and we had a blast!

Saturday = best day everrrrr๐Ÿ’™ Wendell got baptized!!! Yay!! It was so great! We had a really good turn out. He is so golden!! I can't wait to see where this new life takes him! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Spiritual Thought: " You are an example to the world, be a good one" - N. Eldon Tanner

Lastly, I just wanted to thank all of you who remembered me on my birthday and took the time out of your day to make me feel loved! ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you for the cards, emails, videos, and packages! Being away from home can be hard, but it is all so worth it when you have an incredible support system like I do! I am SO blessed❤

I hope you all have an amazing week! Happy March ๐Ÿ˜˜

It was a pretty good week up here in Stuart!

On Tuesday we got to see Wendell. Some church had sent him some sort if picture book about Christs' death and he was super confused because what he read in there was contradicting what he read in the Gospel Principles book. So we went to the one source that is more powerful than anything else! The scriptures! His questions were resolved and we were able to continue with our lesson! We also prepped him for his baptismal interview, which spoiler alert: he passed ๐Ÿ˜Š

We also went to the Tuesday night meeting! David ( Jewish man) lead and to be 100% honest everything went over my head. He is extremely intelligent (side note: he wrote a new york best selling book in the 90's about JFK) and so he used words I didn't know and got real deep in the Bible. He is writing a book about it right now, so he basically just read from it. Oh and another member of the meeting group got us all roses (':

Wednesday and Thursday were pretty basic. We did however find a new investigator through a member! So we are pretty happy about that!

Friday I had the most unique dinner appointment ever. So a woman in our branch signed up to feed us. She texted around 5ish and said she was in jury duty and didn't know how late she would be. So she just had us go to her house and her husband set out all the food and he just went and worked in his shop until we finished eating ๐Ÿ˜‚

Saturday was pretty great! So we got to Wendell's and this convo took place
Us: how have you been?!
Him: not to good
Us : *looks at smoke free calendar sees no stickers on it for 3 days* * starts to have panic attack*
Us: oh no!
Him: *starts laughing* I'm just messing with y'all! I just wanted you to see me put the stickers on!
Us: ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™Œ
So he has been smoke free about 16 days now!! We are pumped!! His baptism is THIS WEEK❤

Saturday we also met two inactive members who said we could start meeting with them! Tender mercy right there (,:

Yesterday we had branch conference and seriously every talk spoke to me. Let me tell you, God answers prayers through other people!! And before church started  Brother Durphee called me over to him and said " your mother must really love you." And I was so confused and he just said he felt like he needed to tell me that. I almost cried but go me, I held it in! We also had a branch potluck after and let's just say i felt like violet in willy wonka when she puffed up and turned into a giant blueberry. But #noregrets๐Ÿ˜

So I've been asked what I want for my birthday and honestly there would be nothing better than to hear from all of you! Seriously "words of affirmation" is my love language so getting a letter in the mail or a fun email would make my day๐Ÿ˜‰ plus its free haha (or even better a handwritten copy of your testimony because I have been collecting those just sayin)

Spiritual Thought: "Clearly, Lehi knew opposition, anxiety, heartache, pain, disappointment, and sorrow. Yet he declared boldly and without reservation a principle as revealed by the Lord: "Men are, that they might have joy." Imagine! Of all the words he could have used to describe the nature and purpose of our lives here in mortality, he chose the word joy!" - Russell M Nelson

Well today we are going to hike Hanging Rock as a zone! So I will be back later this afternoon, so don't worry if I don't reply to you for a while!

Love you all so much!! ❤ I'll talk to you next week when I am no longer a teenager (': *gags*

Hiiii!๐Ÿ˜Š

So Tuesday was pretty much crazy/sad/stressful. We packed Sister Sandy up and Sister Thompson drove us to Charlotte! I got to see Sister Hickenlopper๐Ÿ™Œ It was a great reunion! (ps she is training (': i have a "grandchild" now๐Ÿ˜‚) Fast forward to the part where I hugged Sister Davis & Sister Sandy goodbye, so much for waterproof mascara! Thank goodness Sister Perez was there! She made me look human again hahah.

So my new companion is Sister Charles.  She is one transfer older than me and she is from Oregon! We had a pretty fast paced first day together! As soon as we got back from Charlotte, we had to rush to our dinner appointment, then go to the Tuesday night meeting, and then I got lost on the way home ๐Ÿ˜‚ So we didn't get back till around 9:15.

Wendell is doing a m a z i n g ❤ He is still smoke free! And he wants to be baptized sooner! So looks like I am getting a good birthday present next Saturday, the 25th ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh I have a good story! So this week the zone leaders and assistants came to our district meeting. After we all went out to lunch at this Mexican restaurant. I don't know who ( my money is on Elder Bishop but he swears it wasn't him) but someone told the waitress it was Elder Murray's birthday. (which is wasnt) So the crew comes out with a sombrero and they start singing and then they mash cake into his face ๐Ÿ˜‚ It was hilariousssss! Or maybe you just had to be there but still a highlight of the week!

Also Saturday morning our power went out so we got ready in the dark with a little latern. That was an adventure! And our microwave broke ๐Ÿ™ƒ

spiritual thought:
"I come … with a plea that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I'm suggesting that we accentuate the positive. I'm asking that we look a little deeper for the good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment virtue and effort." - Gordon B Hinckley

Okay sorry this email was so lame. Feel free to email me with any questions or just to update me on how you're doing! ๐Ÿ˜Š I would love to hear from ya! Love youuuu! ๐Ÿ’•
